ROSEBUSH, Mich. – August 14, 2017 – On Monday, representatives from Isabella Wind announced the launch of a community grant program designed to provide funding to support community development in Isabella County.
“When we talk about developing a wind energy project, we’re really talking about making investments in the long-term growth and enhancement of a given community,” said Scott Hawken, director of project development for Isabella Wind. “While we are committed to Isabella County, we understand that we will never know as much about this community and its needs as the local residents do. This grant program gives us a way to help support the things that this community decides it needs most.”
Grants will be available to any individual, group, or organization working within Isabella County to make a positive difference in one or more of four key areas: economic development; environmental sustainability; promoting education; and building healthy communities. These four categories align with the core values of Apex Clean Energy.
“When we first approached the Isabella County community with plans for a potential project, we came in with open ears,” said Albert Jongewaard, public affairs manager for Apex. “We don’t presume to have all the answers, but we look forward to continuing to learn from others about how we can add the greatest value.”
“At the end of the day,” added Hawken, “our goal is to partner with and support the people of this community. There are a lot of folks who are working hard to accomplish the goal of improving the lives of those around them, and we’d like to contribute to that effort.”
Any person or persons interested in learning more or applying for a grant can visit www.isabellawind.com. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply.
Though not all grants will receive support in the program’s first year, favorability will be given to those grants that demonstrate meaningful ways of achieving their stated objective and make a positive difference in the lives of the greatest number of people.
